Method by Devon Manney, BA1 Animation USC School of Cinematic Arts.

Who?
This film was created between June and October 2012, finishing during the beginning of my senior year in high school. I directed and animated the film, with some of the voices in the intro coming from various friends and faculty.

What?
An actor begins to piece together the madness of his method.

Why?
My passion for acting led me to thinking up the basic plot of the film, as did my intrigue in the bizarre stories that surround method actors, as well as the death of Heath Ledger. In terms of style, I tried to emulate the films of David Fincher and Jeremy Clapin.

How?
Animated with a Wacom Bamboo tablet and Adobe Flash, and edited in Adobe Premiere. Sound was recorded with Adobe Audition.

Next Project?
Currently half way through a short film about the beauty and turmoil that drove the life and art of Vincent van Gogh, which I hope to have completed by the end of the summer.

Which animated film would you like to have made?
Without a doubt, Don Hertzfeldt’s feature “it’s such a beautiful day”. It captures the beauty of the world with stick figures, simple shots, and a 62 minute runtime.
