One for Me
One For Me by Sarah Xu. It is a two minutes classical animation short film made by Sarah Xu for her graduation project in Vancouver Film School. Sarah spoke to us about her short film.
Who?
Apart from the sound effects, I made the whole film myself under supervision of Vancouver Film School (storyboard, character design, animation, backgrounds, editing, effects). The film’s Sound Supervisors were Matthew Thomas and Todd Leblanc.
What?
A scorned lover gets her revenge in this tale of love and payback. Kitty is a beautiful cabaret dancer with a broken heart, and she puts on quite a show of getting back at Chester, her former beau.
Why?
A lot of my friends have had similar relationship experiences to my main character. I think that’s the fantasy of every lover who’s ever had their heart broken: getting public sympathy and getting a little direct payback at the same time.
How?
One For Me was animated with pencil and paper, cleaned up by a brush pen. Colored digitally with Toon Boom. And the backgrounds were made using watercolor.
Next Project?
I am making a music video and a new short with my friends.
Which animated film would you like to have made?
I wish I have been involved in making Paprika.
