Who?
The film was produced, directed and naimated by me (Asavari Kumar) in my first year at CalArts
Chocolate bacon –

What?
Chocolate bacon is a portrait of a young woman’s experiences in the first year of grad school, presented through a series of conversations re-contextualized by abstracted characters.

I was new to this country (i’m originally from india) and i was overwhelmed and excited about coming to CalArts and making the film was a way to process document and assimilate my experience.

How?
The film is divided into 6 episodes showing slices of life from a 7 month time period and the voices are from real audio recordings. i used mostly flash, photoshop and after effects but mixed in hand drawn animation, stop motion and liveaction as well since i wanted to use the new skills i was learning in the making of the film.

Next project?
I am currently working on my final year thesis project that is going to be a projection mapped video installation and a short film about parallel realities

Which film do you wish you had made?
I’m a huge Miyazaki fan and would love to have made something as awesome, beautiful and epic as spirited away
