At the End of the Line by Marta Sofia Gomes Dias, UWE Bristol

What?

The film is about Death, a dark figure with a skull as a head, being chased by a woman who ultimately wants to take his place.

Death walks forward at a slow pace, leaving a black line behind him. He suddenly stops as he senses a presence behind him, looking over his shoulder. A woman stands at the end of the line, staring directly at him. Death starts walking again, this time faster. However, she doesn’t want to let him go and tries to reach him. After her first failed attempt, she grabs the line that links them to each other and successfully pulls him towards her. Death is now at her feet and she gently holds his skull, only to pull it off of his neck right after. She then replaces her head with the skull, and walks back to the opposite direction, leaving a black line behind her on her turn.

How?

The film was digitally hand-drawn on TV Paint. The style is fairly realistic for both the visuals and animation style, for which I used footage as reference. I have also used split screens to enhance the storytelling.

Next Project?

I am working on ideas for my graduation film. I would like to go for a more humoristic and cartoony approach, using a different software like Flash.
