The Grumps

The Grumps is a short film set in a retirement home, and is Micha Cohen’s graduation film from the Bezalel Academy of Arts & Design, Jerusalem, Israel. We asked Micha about The Grumps.

Who?

What?
In the film We meet a pair of older gentlemen who inhabit a retirement home, and their rivalry over a lovely lady drives the dialog-free, comedic hijinx.

Why?
My inspiration came from early classic cartoons , i wanted to go with something simple , and basically making people laugh , i love drawing old folks they are amazing characters with many storys , my characters are based on real people I’ve met during family dinners or volentering in nursing homes during my studies..

How?
I used toonboom animate pro to create the 2d animation, photoshop for background and layout, after effects and premiere.

Next Project?
My future projects involve live action footage and some 2d animation
