What?
The animation explains how families are being unfairly evicted from their land and left with no way to grow food or earn a living as a result of big land deals in poor countries.
Why?
This film was my graduation film from the Digital animation course at Falmouth University. It was made for Oxfam GB and focuses on there campaign to stop large land deal. I looked at Ugandan artist Fred Mutebi for inspiration for the style of the film and Steven Briands ‘Protegion’ was an influence for the stopmotion hand section.
How?
We made this by mixing traditional lino/woodcuts techniques with digital stopmotion and 2D animation techniques. we used stopmotion pro, flash, tvp and aftereffects to animated the characters onto linocut hand printed backgrounds.
Next Project?
No plans at the moment, Im moving to london to work as a freelance animator in July
Which animated film would you like to have made?
I would have loved to have made films for monty python. Terry Gilliams stuff is the best!
