This year we commemorate the 100th anniversary of an event that helped shape the 20th Century: The Russian Revolution. To mark this event, award winning animator Robert Grieves has created a short film explaining the key events of 1917. Harnessing the iconic design style of Russian propaganda posters, bold red and black shapes are brought to fully animated life, telling the story of the people’s uprising and the subsequent formation of the world’s first Socialist state. With global politics moving further to the right, and the resurgence of Socialism to oppose it, the story of this piece – not to mention the striking graphics – feels as relevant today as it did a hundred years ago.
