Senior VP of Cartoon Network to Attend Se-ma-For
The Polish Se-ma-for Film Festival (stop motion animation) main competition will be held between 9 and 13th October 2013 in Lodz, Poland.
The main focus of the Festival program is French animation. The same way the Festival continues its journey to the roots of animated film. As it is widely known, the first animated film screening in the history occurred in the year 1892 in Paris – in Théâtre Optique by Charles-Émile Reynaud; a lot of important animation artists had also “French part” in their works. What is important – not only France, but also French-speaking countries will be of the Festival interest – including African.
There will be also quite a few important guests at the Festival. One of them and also International Jury member is Brian A. Miller, responsible for international production Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cartoon Network Studios. In his professional career, Miller had similar positions at Nickelodeon’s Nicktoons Animation Studio and Hanna-Barbera Studio. He oversaw such productions as “Spongebob Squarepants”, „Dexter’s Laboratory”, „Johnny Bravo” or „Cow and Chicken”.
Besides Miller, Rene Chérnier will be also among jury members. Chérnier is Executive Producer at the National Film Board’s French Animation and Youth Studio, one of the most important world organization investing in development and promotion of animated film.
Filmmakers that would like to take part in the International Competition for Best Stop Motion Animation are asked to apply at the Festival website – www.festival.se-ma-for.co until 31th July 2013.
Se-ma-for Film Festival is co-financed by Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Lodz City and Polish Film Institute.
