Kaytis & Reilly to direct ‘Angry Birds’ Movie

Whether you like the mega franchise or not a movie is on its way and Deadline reports that Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly have signed up to co-direct the animated 3D pic based on the hugely popular app from Rovio Entertainment. The role will be directorial debuts for both artists. Kaytis recently left Disney after 19 years with the studio, where he worked as animation supervisor on the likes of Tangled and Bolt. Whilst Reilly been with Sony since 2003 and has served as storyboard artist on the likes of Hotel Transylvania, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and its sequel, as well as head of story at Sony Pictures Animation.

Rovio CEO Mikael Hed said of the appointment “I’m very excited that Fergal and Clay have joined us, bringing with them their vast expertise,”

Sony Pictures has set a July 1, 2016 worldwide release date for the movie.
