Zerply, the network for VFX artists and other creatives in TV, film, and games, is recruiting talented animators to join its community. After a successful invite-only beta, the San Francisco-based startup is now opening its virtual doors to applicants. Zerply’s mission? To make VFX artists’ lives easier.

“The industry has undergone a lot of changes in the past decade,” says Zerply’s creative-in-chief, James Bennett. “Job security is a thing of the past, and transitioning between projects can be a nightmare. As an animator myself, I saw the need for something like LinkedIn, but built specifically for people who create visual content in the entertainment industry.

“For freelance creatives, the end of a gig can be a time of fear and uncertainty. It doesn’t have to be that way. We want VFX artists to have a resource that manages their professional lives for them, that connects them with meaningful work, so that they can get back to making great art.”

Zerply members create profiles where they can host a full visual portfolio and share their work across a community of colleagues and companies looking for talent. The platform recently released a feature which allows its users to sync written notes to their showreels, thus eliminating the need for a separate reel breakdown. “These are the types of problems we want to solve for our artists,” says Bennett.

Readers can apply for membership here. Though there is currently a waiting list due to a high volume of applicants, folks who mention that they heard about Zerply through Show Me The Animation in their applications will be given priority.
