CelAction 2D Training Programme

CelAction is the pre-eminent 2D animation software in the UK today. It’s been used on the productions of BAFTA winning Peppa Pig, International Emmy winning Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom and the recent Moshi Monsters movie.

business_mouse_0There are several animated TV shows in pre-production at the moment in the UK that will need CelAction animators shortly, and there simply aren’t enough trained. Addressing this major skills shortage has been identified as a priority by industry body Creative Skillset who are supporting skills upgrade courses in the software.

Cutlass Productions, an award-winning 2D animation studio based in Brighton, are amongst the first to be chosen to run a Challenge Fund-supported CelAction
course. It will be held in Brighton at the Phoenix Gallery during May 2014.

6th May 2014 – 27th May 2014 (15 days)
(09:30 – 17:00 Monday – Friday)

THE COURSE LEADER AND CONTENTS
Cath Lloyd, an experienced lead animator, has been using CelAction since its launch in 1998 with the series Big Knights for Astley Baker Davies. She has worked on numerous other CelAction productions including The Little Princess, Peppa Pig and 2DTV. The three weeks will be an intensive practical course using the main features of the software. The focus is on rigging a character, animating and using the advanced tools and functions of CelAction.

LOCATION
The course will take place at the Phoenix Gallery, situated in central Brighton.

SUPPORT
The course is supported by Creative Skillset as part of their Challenge Fund to address severe skills shortages in the UK’s creative industries.

THE COURSE IS AIMED AT
Animation professionals with an undergraduate degree in animation or relevant work experience. It might also be of interest to non-graduates with relevant work experience.

COST
£750 including VAT.
Participants who complete the course can also receive a discount of 50% for purchasing CelAction2D Professional Edition.

A number of subsidised places will be available to graduate animators at Cutlass’ discretion.
