Pick of 2013: The Pub
Jan 6th, 2014Off The Press Pick of The Year
After spending its time on a successful festival run, The Pub directed by Joseph Pierce and produced by 59 Productions hit the internet early in 2013. The third in a trilogy of ‘rotoscoped’ shorts following “Stand Up” and “A family Portrait” the film enters into the murky slipstream of a North London pub. As the booze flows the line between who belongs behind and in front of the bar becomes increasingly blurred. By drawing over live-action footage Piece is able to reveal a lot of emotion and personality that lurks beneath the personas we attempt to portray. A dark and disturbing look at human beings that is a delight to watch.
