This year KLIK! adds a brand new category to their collection of annual awards: The KLIK! World Domination Award. It is a big ‘thank you!’ to an organization, individual or studio that helped Dutch animation achieve more international success that year, and a token of believe he/she/they/it will go on to achieve even greater things.
KLIK! proudly presents the members of this year’s World Domination Award jury: Lisa Linde Nieveld, project coordinator at EYE International, Peter Lindhout, film consultant animation at The Netherlands Film Fund, Claire van Daal, programmer at the Netherlands Film Festival, Patrick Nijman from the Association of the Netherlands Animation Producers and Lesley van der Woude, managing director of the KLIK! Amsterdam Animation Festival.
The tremendous jury represents the aim of the World Domination Award to the fullest with all of the members being great forces in international Dutch animation themselves. The jury receives help with the decision making from the followers of KLIK!, everyone has a say in who deserves the World Domination Award: nominees can be proposed anonymously up to September 30th, via www.klikamsterdam.nl/wda. Based on this list of nominees the esteemed jury will decide on the winner of the very first World Domination Award.
With the introduction of the World Domination Award KLIK! thanks and rewards animation catalysts and encourages the sector and everyone involved to give Dutch animation a boost. Claire van Daal of the Netherlands Film Festival stresses that a prize like the World Domination Award is “a beautiful tool to draw attention to a sector that deserves increased attention”. According to Peter Lindhout of the Netherlands Film Fund, the award also forms “a way to draw attention to the importance of the internationalization of the animation industry”. Claudia Landsberger, Head of EYE International, states that besides the World Domination Award the KLIK!
