I Want to See the Big, Wide World

Jun 6th, 2013Student Showcase

I Want to See the Big, Wide World by Isabel Garrett, Isabel is a Second year student studying animation at the London College of Communication.

Who?
I Want to See the Big, Wide World was directed by myself (Isabel Garrett), with sound design by Pete Cudmore.

What?
It’s a short stop motion for children about a little creature called Lolo who lives in a cave, this is the story of his first adventure into the outside world.

Why?
I took inspiration largely from Oliver Postgate’s ‘Clangers’, as well as Oliver Jeffers, Dr Seuss and A. A. Milne.

How?
The film was made on a budget of £100, entirely in stop motion, with after effects.

Next Project?
The project I’m currently working on is also a stop motion for children, about a little Shrew and his quest to fit in in the woodland. It will be out at the end of June.

Which animated film would you like to have made?
If I could have worked on any film ever made I’d probably have to say Fantastic Mr Fox. It’s a fantastic film.
