St. Ivan's Bath
St. Ivan’s Bath by Tea Stražičić
Who?
The short was animated and directed by Tea Stražičić with music from Jure Buljević
What?
A Goth Rock star’s lips renounce him because he enjoys too much drugs and groupie girls. He panics and decides to kill himself in his bathroom by cutting his veins. From his blood a yellow rubber duck rises. He is given a new choice, and a complete new voice to sing.
Why?
A Simple sketch in my book made long time ago inspired me to make this short. It was a drawing of musician Burzum crushing a duck while yelling “Black Metal ist Krieg”.It reminded me how Goth I was in my fifteens. And how much did I wished in my fifteens too see something animated, funny and goth (not made exclusively by Tim Burton).
How?
Computer 2D animation. Made durning summer on laptop while sunbathing in Dubrovnik. It took one month of intense working on animation and one more month for music and editing.
Next Project?
I’m working on animated musical for the Heavy Metal band Eat Your Brains. It will be eight minutes long. Main characters are two morbid sisters, horror fanatics that try to fight the Zombie-Cat Apocalypse. Currently it is in animatique production stage.
Which animated film would you like to have made?
Masaaki Yuasa’s Mind Game, Studio Ghibli’s Mononoke, David OReilly’s Octocat Adventures, Kanashimi no Beradonna…
Actually wish I was animation.
