Showcase of the Year 2015: A New Hue
A New Hue by George Rigby, Jennifer Hardy and Stephen Tucker, Bournemouth University, NCCA.
Who?
The film was created by myself (George Rigby), Jennifer Hardy and Stephen Tucker as our final year film at Bournemouth’s National Centre for Computer Animation.
What?
A New Hue is a short CG animation embracing a paper aesthetic, revolving around the introduction of two contrasting characters living in a paper world.

How?
After months and months of researching, drawing and designing, the bulk of production was done using Autodesk Maya to create the models, rigs, animation, lighting and rendering. The colour spreading was animated using After Effects, before being brought into Maya as textures. All the compositing was done in Nuke, with all the final editing and whatnot being completed in Premiere.

Next Project?
I’m currently honing my skills as an animator while keeping my eyes peeled for any character animation jobs in and around the Bristol/Bath region.

Which Film?
There’s so many to choose from! I would have loved to be a fly on the wall during the production of “WALL-E”. I think Andrew Stanton is one of the best storytellers there is.
