Neon Thoughts by Benjamin Hunter, California Institute of the Arts

Who?

Solely me, Benjamin J-S Hunter, 19 year old Afro-Hungarian student filmmaker studying Experimental Animation at California Institute of the Arts and teaching at various Community arts partnership locations in Los Angeles, California.

What?

Living neon signs in an alternate world where media roams free, just not like how it does in ours.

How?

This piece was made using The Adobe suite. I utilized photoshop, aftereffects, and flash to develop the images seen. Many of the backgrounds in the film are not Videos as they may appear, but actually photos with added noise and warping. there are a few though that are videos, and when that is the case, it is obvious.

I also did the Sound design myself, but I like to think of the sounds as only an extension of the images, for the purpose of this film specifically.

Next Project?

I am currently in development on a music video for the Singer/Songwriter, Maryama. It is in a similar style, with saturated, bright colors, but will use more on set animation techniques, such as light painting.

Which Film do you wish you could have made?

“Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”. It was a visual masterpiece, and I would have loved to work on it. If I had been the one to direct it however, Im sure it would have been a very different movie.
