Fruut
“Fruut” by Stephanie Ward, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design
Who?
The film was directed and animated by me, Stephanie Ward. Additional animation and backgrounds where produced by Ellie Petrova and Zi-Qing Gao. Sophia Amarantides and Maxim Northover worked on additional colouring, and the score was composed by Sam Dudley.
What?
Fruut is a griffin, part pigeon instead of the typical part eagle. Because of this he looks and acts bizzarly and is outcast by the other griffins. While they are finding their suitors, fruut is struggling to meet his match.

Why?
I wanted to tell a story through pantomime acting with compelling characters, giving them human personalities while also maintaining their animal movements. I deeply admire the work of Disney, Don Bluth and Hayao Miyazaki to name a few.
How?
The film was animated in the traditional style using paper and a pencil. It was then coloured and composited digitally in TV Paint and edited in Adobe Premiere.

Next Project?
After working on a few freelance jobs I have had an idea for my next film. It will be to do with childhood, imagination and a fantasy world.
Which animated film would you like to have made?
I would loved to have worked on the Land Before Time or Balto.
