A Brighter Light – Home by Jana Kaminski

This video tells the story of a waterdrop’s journey, being both in search of his ‘home’ and at the same time playfully chasing another drop, resulting in an affectionate cat-and-mouse game. Along the way they encounter colourful and abstract environments with each it’s own characteristics, providing different charms and struggles. In the end the meaning of ‘coming home’ unravels itself as not only being a geographic one but as having multiple facets.

Directors Notes

The animation was made by using mostly analogue materials and techniques. All of the artwork is handmade with a mix of materials to give a different quality to the several settings. The waterdrops are made with oil paint and added on top of the environment as a digital layer. They are animated both frame by frame and digitally. Apart from that all of the movements are done by using stop motion.
