Lord Mayor of Bristol’s Children Appeal – Seeking Animator
The Lord Mayor of Bristol’s Children Appeal is seeking an animator to help us create a short animated film (sub 2 minutes). This is based on a specially commissioned poem by the Bristol Poet Laurette, Miles Chambers. We aim to have a very well-known voice as the narrator. The story has a dark, fairy tale flavour and is about a city caught in a perpetual winter and a travelling magician who comes to the aid of the city.
Visually – it is an open brief, but the immense time constraints suggest using motion graphics and found images or best suited to somebody who works fast in bold strokes.
This film will be premiered at Ashton Gate Stadium on 2nd March 2017 at the Lord Mayor’s Gift Gala – a high profile fundraising event. It will be shown prior to the auction to help us raise crucial funding to provide nearly 1700 disadvantaged children in the city with a toy and meal each Christmas Day. The Appeal has nearly 100 years history and is close to the hearts of many. As such the film may be used multiple times over the year including at the annual Carol Concert at Colston Hall.
The film has been sponsored and the available budget is a very limited £500. The deadline is 1st March 2017. It is however, especially if the voice-over goes as hoped, an opportunity to forge a superb showreel item and support a local charity of note. The Committee Member commissioning the piece is a former filmmaker, UWE graduate, local resident and understands the animation process.
