Q Pootle 5 will focus on space in a new UK brand awareness initiative to promote the hit CBeebies series.

Activity kicks-off at the National Space Centre in Leicester on 12 May with creator Nick Butterworth and his friendly alien Q Pootle 5 taking part in the centre’s Small Space Day aimed at toddlers. Visitors will get the opportunity to meet the costume character as well as hear from Nick Butterworth as he brings alive the space adventures in his interactive show. There will also be stories, songs, craft activities and trails.

In addition, a special Q Pootle 5 themed morning will be held at the Royal Observatory Greenwich on 31 July. At the event visitors will watch an episode of Q Pootle 5 amongst the stars in the planetarium. This will be followed by an interactive presentation from Nick Butterworth and a chance to meet him at a book signing after the show. Visitors can also take part in an astronomical ‘make and take’ where they will create their own planets mobile.

Both events will be supported with vibrant social media activity. Branded space themed resources are also available to download from http://www.qpootle5.com/.

Ben Butterworth, Snapper Productions, said: “These events offer a great opportunity for us to connect with families and Q Pootle 5 fans everywhere. Q Pootle 5 is all about imagination and play. We love to share this with children and inspire them, and grown ups, to take every opportunity they can to nurture and develop their creativity.

Q Pootle 5 is based on the best-selling books by children’s author and illustrator Nick Butterworth and follows the adventures of the friendly little alien and his pals, as they tackle the everyday problems of the final frontier. The series, which is produced by Snapper Productions, animated by Blue Zoo and distributed internationally by ZDF Enterprises, has to-date been sold to over 70 countries worldwide. The brand has also secured a number of licensees in the UK and Germany.
