HOME commit to 5 years with Manchester Animation Festival
The Manchester Animation Festival has revealed its 2017 festival dates. The festival will take place on the 14, 15, 16 November 2017 at HOME, Manchester’s centre for international, contemporary film, art and theatre. The venue has today announced their support for the Manchester Animation Festival by committing to host the festival for a further 5 years. Dave Moutrey, Director and Chief Executive of HOME said;
“HOME is delighted to be supporting MAF again this year. In 2016 we saw a great programme of exciting and important films and events reaching a wide audience, developed by a committed and talented team. MAF fits the local film ecology perfectly given the importance of animation production to our region. It therefore makes great strategic sense to us for HOME to cement this excellent working relationship with an agreement to host MAF for the next five years. We hope that this will provide the stability necessary for MAF to grow and flourish.”
HOME have also invited the festival to curate exhibitions for their Granada Foundation Galleries in the building which will be on display during the festival.
The festival has also officially launched its call for entries and is accepting submissions for its film competition screenings this year allowing non-interactive 360°/VR shorts to also be submitted.
The festival is also now taking nominations for their Industry Excellence Awards, this year for individuals excelling in their fields of Scriptwriting, Storyboarding, Character Design and Character Animation. You can nominate yourself or another person via their website www.manchesteranimationfestival.co.uk.
The 2016 edition of the festival took in over 500 delegates and had over 5500 admissions taking in 58 events over 3 jam-packed days of masterclasses, workshops, competition screenings and panels, featuring 31 guests offering their unique industry insight and creative inspiration.
The full programme for the 2017 edition of the festival will be revealed later in the year.
