Hiroshi Nishikori launches Kickstarter for the anime CHIKA*CHIKA IDOL

Director of A Certain Magical Indexand Azumanga Daioh, Hiroshi Nishikori, has launched a Kickstarter for the anime “CHIKA*CHIKA IDOL”. The idol anime follows the everyday lives of a group of “underground idols” and features the high energy performances of a live idol concert. The 3D digital animation short film uses cel-shading CG technology to achieve hand-drawn quality.
The Kickstarter project marks the second half of the campaign which is currently live on the Japanese crowdfunding site, Makuake. The Japanese pop culture experts at Tokyo Otaku Mode will be collaborating on the Kickstarter project by helping promote the project and delivering rewards.
Rewards for the project include a digital download of the anime for $25 and a special edition Blu-ray package for $50, and Supporter Sets for each of the idols with T-shirts, scarf towels and solo music tracks.
This is Idol Anime! The CHIKA*CHIKA IDOL story starts in downtown Tokyo with three girls who want to become idols…They don’t belong to a talent agency, and haven’t even put out a CD. But they can’t wait to make their dreams come true, so they jump up on stage anyway!
