Animated Oscar Winners

So last night at a glamourous awards ceremony the winners of the 2013 Oscars were announced and for those of you routing for an underdog in the animated categories will have been left disappointed. “Brave” followed up its wins at the BAFTA’s and Golden Globes to pick up Best Animated Feature film. The win makes it Pixar’s seventh in the category since the award made its debut in 2002. “Brave” beat off competition from “Frankenweenie,” “ParaNorman,” “The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists,” and “Wreck it Ralph.

As for the Animated Short category, Disney’s “Paperman” directed by John Kahrs walked away with the top prize. “Paperman” was one of two shorts by a major studio nominated this year with David Silverman’s Simpsons short “The Longest Daycare” also nominated. Also nominated were “Head over Heels”, “Fresh Guacamole,” and “Adam and Dog.”
