Angry Birds Series On its Way

Angry BirdsDuring his keynote speech on the opening day of this years MIPTV in Cannes, Nick Dorra head of animation at Rovio announced the companies hugely successful Angry Birds will be making a move into an animation series.

The series will be have an initial run of 52 episodes and each cartoon will be between two and half – three minutes long. In his keynote Nick Dorra said they wanted the series to be on all screens with the intention to “roll it out on all possible devices.”

Since Angry Birds launched two years ago, it has taken the world by storm and has moved from being just a mobile app into a world wide franchise. Over 30 million people a day, rack up an incredible 300 million minutes playing angry birds, and in just a few weeks the latest version of Angry Birds, Angry Birds Space has been downloaded over 20 million times and is the top paid app in over 99 countries.

The Animation series will be yet another addition to the franchise, wich already has a number of different versions of the games, comics and books.

The Animation series according to Dorra will allow Rovio to bring more story and depth to the array of angry birds characters they have developed within the series, which is just not possible in its App format.

As well as the animation series, Dorra also announced an angry birds film was also in development, and is set for release in 2013/2014.
