Anima just two months away
The 35th Anima, the Brussels International Animation Festival, is set to take place in just two months, in Flagey, from 5th to 14th February 2016. Part of the programme will also be shown in Liege, Namur, Charleroi, Mons, Ghent, Genk, Louvain, Antwerp and Ostend.
You can already catch up with the list of selected short films on the festival website: www.animafestival.be
Alongside these 135 shorts coming from all over the world, Anima will also present some new feature films such as Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson’s Anomalisa, Miss Hokusaï by Japanese filmmaker Keiichi Hara, Magic Mountain by Anca Damian or the latest Ghost in the Shell by Kazuya Nomura. The public will certainly be able to count on an explosive edition of the Animated Night, as well as a focus on British and Japanese animation, a memorable VJ-ing session with the French crew BBBlaster and daily meetings with filmmakers… to mention but a few of the highlights of Anima 2016!
The festival hasn’t forgotten the kids either! During their Carnaval school break, they can take a look at some exclusive screenings, like French filmmaker Rémi Chayé’s Long Way North, Mamoru Hosoda’s The Boy and the Beast from Japan or Raven the Little Rascal – The Big Race by German duo Ute von Münchow-Pohl and Jesse Sandor. The Festival is also organizing free animation initiation workshops, a one-week course for the teens, a make-up stand for a few days throughout the Festival and, of course, the delicious ‘crepes’, which have now become a firm Festival favourite!
The Futuranima meetings will take place from 10th to 13th February. These four days during the Festival will see well known names from the profession presenting and talking about the latest trends in animation. Already on the programme: Rémi Chayé, with a Making Of session for his feature Long Way North, Hisko Hulsing with an exceptional half-day Masterclass, a presentation of highly rated London studio Th1ng and an animated rock concert orchestrated by illustrator Hervé Bourhis.
Full details of the programme will be available online on 13th January 2016 on their website: www.animafestival.be
