After finishing a festival circuit the last week that took in official selections at ANNECY, Hiroshima, Fantoche, 52nd Krakow Film Festival, DOK-Leipzig, Animpact Animation Festival Max, Bradford Animation Festival, InterFilm Berlin and more Michael Frei’s ‘Not About Us’ is now online. Hand-animated with pen on paper the short is a symbolic staging of the complex dance of rapprochement between a man and a woman. A mechanical ballet flitting between black and white, light and dark and countless mirroring motions—until at last contact is made and a relationship develops.
