Under The Weather by Rainy Days Production

Who?

Timothy Allenby, Jess Spiers, Chris Summers, and Tom Shannon.

What?

A bittersweet 90-second short about a guy who grows increasingly frustrated as he fights to get out from under a particularly stubborn rain cloud.

Why?

I wanted to deal with how it feels when you just can’t seem to let yourself be happy in a way that still lets the audience have a chuckle and a “d’aww” or two.

How?

The animation was done in Flash, making use of it’s looping and symbol capabilities while still including some life-giving frame-by-frame. It was then textured and shadowed in After Effects to give it a paper-like feel.

Next Project?

I’ve got an animation for the BBC Listening Project that I’m waiting to here when it’ll be released, and I’m going to be working with Lewis Rogers to produce a 1-minute short this October/November, so we’ll see how that goes. While that’s doing, I’ll also be keeping my webcomic, “This is Normal”, updated twice a week.

Which Animated Film Would You Liked to of Made?

This isn’t a film, but “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is probably the greatest animated series of all time.
