After the End by Sam Southward

For Rene Fustercluck, life was bad, the Apocalypse was awful and then Gordon arrived. ‘After the End’ explores the possibility that the only thing worse than being the last man on earth, is being the second to last man on earth. After The End is an Award winning short film by Sam Southward, and it’s quite a feat of creativity, storyteller and pure awesomeness.

Director’s Notes

The story of the actual production itself is quite interesting, the technique is 3D CG characters comp’ed on top of live action miniature sets, that we designed and built. When we got into the animation stage after shooting backplates, all of our animators were remote working in countries all over the world including the U.K, France, Brazil, the U.S and Pakistan. Finally the film has been shown at over 100 festivals, picking up awards at Palm Springs, Dinard, Kuan-du, Dingle to name a few, as well as getting me a nomination for the D&AD next director award and winning a YDA.
